  Job Overview

 Premier Medical Centre is seeking an ambitious, highly skilled, and motivated GP to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of clinical standards and patient safety within the practice, as well as providing guidance and support for the wider practice team. You will also be expected to drive quality improvement initiatives, lead multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to the development of our staff while maintaining a strong clinical presence.

 In addition to clinical duties, the role will involve overseeing QOF and enhanced service achievements, maximizing revenue from these streams. A passion for teaching, particularly with medical students, is highly desirable, as well coaching others and nurturing a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

  • Lead and maintain high clinical standards within the practice, ensuring safety and the delivery of high-quality care to all patients.

  • Supervise and support the other GPs, allied healthcare professionals, and clinical team, providing guidance when necessary.

  • Chair weekly clinical meetings with the multidisciplinary team to discuss complex cases, clinical guidelines, and ensure consistent service delivery.

  • Provide leadership on clinical governance matters, ensuring all clinical protocols are adhered to and risk management practices are in place.

  • Offer support and expertise to the administrative and reception team, particularly when clinical queries arise, ensuring smooth communication and workflow.

  • Be a point of contact for the practice team if clinical issues arise that need guidance

  • Ensure appropriate training and support are provided to all clinical staff to improve service delivery.

  • Take responsibility for the overall clinical safety of the practice, working to continually improve patient care standards.

 Practice Performance:

  • Lead on QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and Enhanced Services (ES) initiatives to ensure the practice and PCN meet and exceed relevant targets.

  • Maximize revenue from QOF and ES streams by leading on the achievement of the relevant indicators and ensuring that all processes are in place to optimize performance.

  • Monitor and track performance and ensure that any areas for improvement are swiftly addressed.

  • Consider improvements to practice processes such as digital triage, pathology/docman workflows, and prescription requests to ensure and maintain practice efficiency

  • Keep the practice involved in clinical research studies and other local initiatives

 Teaching and Development:

  • Support and mentor fellow GPs and healthcare staff, fostering a learning environment for continuous professional development.

  • Maintain and foster an open-door policy within the practice for case discussion amongst peers

  • Contribute to the teaching and upskilling of medical students and other staff members, ensuring best practices are instilled.

  • Encourage a culture of learning, with regular feedback and development plans for all clinical staff.

 Collaboration and Innovation:

  • Work closely with the local universities through our sister company, The Uni Doctor, which focuses on student health and health promotion. Explore avenues to expand our presence in local university areas and student halls.

  • Ensure that clinical protocols are up-to-date and in line with best practices, while implementing innovative solutions for practice workflows.

  • Represent the practice at PCN meetings and NWL federation meetings to understand and be involved in current activities and newer initiatives.

  • Liaise with community teams such as palliative care and district nurses to discuss cases within the shared MDT

  • Promote a culture of team collaboration and integration with allied health services, ensuring seamless patient care across the practice.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 Education & Experience:

  • Fully qualified GP with post-CCT experience (minimum of 3 years).

  • Active General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a license to practice (Performers List)

  • Experience in managing and leading teams is preferred

 Clinical Skills:

  • A thorough understanding of clinical governance and patient safety practices.

  • Experience with NHS systems and clinical software (we are an EMIS web practice).

  • Ability to manage complex cases and make evidence-based decisions.

  • Ability to supervise and support the development of other doctors and allied health professionals.

Desirable:

  • Experience in clinical leadership or management roles, particularly in a GP practice or multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

  • Experience with and understanding of QOF and Enhanced Services.

  • Advanced understanding of EMIS web functionality (creating searches, reports, templates, protocols)

  • Multilingual (particularly Hindi or Gujarati)

Working Pattern:

  •  The position offers 6-8 clinical sessions per week, depending on the candidate’s preference and availability.

  • There will be a mix of clinical and non-clinical sessions

  • The role will involve time for meetings, teaching, and administrative responsibilities.
