Types of Appointments
How to be seen — online, by phone, in person or at a local hub.
We understand that different patients want different things from appointments. We try our best to offer this, within what our GPs and appointment slots allow.
GP appointments are for urgent and routine medical issues. They are not for life-threatening emergencies — if your situation is life-threatening, please call 999 or go to A&E immediately.
How to Request an Appointment
The quickest way to contact us is through Blinx, our online booking system. Blinx asks you a few short questions about your symptoms, then sends your request to the right clinician.
Advance Booking
You can book an appointment up to two months ahead. This lets you choose a time, and often a clinician, that works for you.
- ›Available with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, HCAs, and all our other clinicians.
- ›If your preferred day is full, our reception team will help you find another time.
- ›Book here, or by calling 020 3728 2551.
On the Day — Urgent Appointments
A limited number of urgent, same-day appointments are released each morning at 8:00am. These are for problems that can’t wait for an advance booking.
- ›Submit a request here from 8:00am, or call the practice on 020 3728 2551.
- ›Our team will assess whether you need a phone call or to be seen in person.
- ›If you need to be seen in person, we'll arrange this at the practice or at one of our GP hubs.
On-the-day appointments are for urgent problems only. If it's not urgent, please book in advance instead. Same-day slots are limited, so you may not get your preferred time or clinician.
Telephone Consultations
You can book a phone appointment in advance with many of our clinicians. This works well when you don’t need to be examined in person, for example:
- Ongoing medical problems and chronic condition reviews
- Sick note requests
- Medication changes or queries
- Blood test and investigation results
- Mental health check-ins and follow-up
- General medical advice
Phone appointments save you time and a trip to the practice. Book here or by calling 020 3728 2551.
Face-to-Face Appointments
If you need to be examined, you can book a face-to-face appointment with our clinical team.
- Available in advance, or on the same day if there's a clinical need.
- Please arrive on time. If you're more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to see you and you'll need to rebook.
- Please let us know if you need a chaperone, interpreter, or any other support when booking.
GP Hub Appointments
If we’re fully booked, we may offer you an appointment at one of the GP hubs in the area. Hubs are open evenings on weekdays and during the day on Saturdays.
- ›You can see a GP, Clinical Pharmacist, or Nurse at a hub.
- ›Do not attend a hub without a referral from the practice.
- ›Using a hub helps you avoid a wait at A&E, an Urgent Care Centre, or a walk-in centre.
- ›See full hub information here
Home Visits
Home visits are for patients who are housebound and genuinely can’t travel to the practice. If you’re able to travel, please come to the surgery instead.
A home visit takes much longer than a normal appointment — in that time, a GP could see several patients at the surgery. So if you can get to us, please do. This means more patients can be seen overall. If you do come in and need to be seen urgently, we’ll always try to help.
Requesting a home visit
- Call us as early as possible in the morning if you need a home visit that day.
- Our receptionist will ask what the problem is, along with your name, address and phone number.
- Please let us know if you are not at your home address.
- A GP will call you first to talk through your request and decide what to do next.
- We can only visit patients within our catchment area.
When We Are Closed
If you need healthcare when we’re closed, here’s what to do:
| NHS 111 | Call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk for urgent medical advice outside surgery hours. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week. |
| Urgent Care Centres | Northwick Park Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital both have Urgent Care Centres for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions. |
| Walk In Centres | Open from 8am-8pm every day, including bank holidays. They can provide support for minor physical injuries. |
| 999 / A&E | For life-threatening emergencies, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E immediately. Do not use 111 or a walk-in centre in an emergency. |
Missed Appointments
When patients don’t turn up and don’t cancel, the appointment goes to waste. This means longer waits for everyone else.
Please cancel if you can't make it
On average, 150 patients a month miss their appointment at Premier Medical Centre without cancelling. If you can't come, please cancel as early as you can — so we can offer the slot to someone else.
Missed appointments cost the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds each year nationally.
If you cannot attend, please cancel as early as possible so the slot can be offered to another patient.
How to cancel an appointment
- Call us on 020 3728 2551 during surgery hours.
- Reply to your appointment reminder message with the word 'CANCEL'.
Access Plan Practice Statement
This statement is required by NHS England. It explains what we're doing, together with our Federation and Primary Care Network (PCN), to make it easier for you to get an appointment.
In short: we’re working to make it faster and easier to get an appointment — including by phone, online, and at evening and weekend hubs.
Working with our Federation and Primary Care Networks (PCNs), Premier Medical Centre has put together a plan to improve care for our patients and the wider PCN population.
The plan covers booking, communication, and the overall patient experience. It includes:
- Same-day and next-day phone and face-to-face appointments for urgent and routine needs.
- Appointments you can book ahead for follow-up care.
- Clinical 'Triage and Treat' clinics across the PCN.
- Phone support in thirteen languages (weekdays).
- Real-time clinical team support over the telephone (weekdays).
- More ways to reach us, online and by phone.
- NHS App support at practice level.
- A website that reflects our full team and services.
- Self-help links and information on our website.
